Happy Australia Day!

26 January 2009 | Nai Han Bay, Phuket, Thailand
We had planned a large gathering on the Makani Kai for Australia Day at Nai Han Bay, unfortunately a lot of Australians and honorary Australians, (yes, we were letting Kiwi's come), had left the day before. We ended up sharing the day with the crew from Raku and Blue Moon of Oz. Blue Moon brought across an Aussie called Julian who it turns out Jay used to race yachts with around 16 years ago, talk about a small world! There were shrimps on the barbie and plenty of beer but in a break in tradition Jay kept his clothes on for the entire day! Several Aussie flags were flying high and nothing but Australian music was played all day including the traveller's theme song 'Land Down Under'. We did manage to speak with an assortment of misfits from the Gold Coast who we were happy to hear were not breaking with tradition and the usual amount of silliness was occurring at home. Congratulations Aaron on your Captain Australia win, you do us proud and we look forward to seeing the photos!

P.S. Congratulations to Patch and Nikki on a new baby boy, Joel Donovan Williams, another top little Aussie enters the world!
