The Three Musketeers

Mark has gone away for four week-long stints of work, one each month since December. The first time we had Tracy with us, the second time we had my Mom with us, last month we had Walden to play with every day after school and this month it was just us three musketeers:) So it actually felt like [...]

Jazzy Lady bursts at the seams

Still in Spanish Wells

At home one of my favourite summer delights is lying in a hammock listening to the wind rustle through oak or maple leaves. Another audible treat is the smoother, lighter swishing of the wind through the needles of a pine tree. Here in Bahamas I am storing the audio memory of wind through palm trees. [...]

SHAKEDOWN CRUISE

Blog Entry # 1. Aug 12 2019

Here we are on Lake Champlain aboard S/VJazzy Lady. Ever heard of a shakedown cruise? It’s a practice run for an upcoming long voyage. During this quick 5 day cruise we are ironing out the kinks, getting to know our trusty sailing vessel and preparing ourselves, mentally and organizationally, for the 8 month journey we’ll embark on 5 weeks from now. We will head down the Intracoastal Waterway over the span of about 3 months, with our final destination being the Bahamas. We’ll tour through some of the hundreds of Bahamas islands for four months, then head north back to Lake Champlain. Should ensure that we avoid EVERY possible cold day in Canada for the winter season of 2019/2020:)
This has been a dream 5 years in the making....from the early stages of daydreaming to the middle stages of financial planning to the most exciting phase of searching for and eventually purchasing our 1989 Catalina 42’!
Mark and I began talking of our common vision within 5 minutes of meeting each other 12 years ago but babies, home-owning and marriage (...in that order!...) stalled us for a while so now, as a family of four, we’re ready to set sail!
Meet Mark, Meg, Annie and Alistair!
