Purchasing the "right" boat

After searching unsuccessfully for an affordable blue-water cruisers for over a year, we decided to check this Jeanneau out at a Seattle, WA brokerage. Our first viewing was not convincing, as she had a roller-furling main, and was in pretty rough shape. But we loved the design, and began pursuing sister-ships on Yacht World. After months of looking, we were notified the owner had lowered the price. So, we decided to take a second look - focusing on the "art of the possible". After negotiations, we had a new boat.
This is my account of the most significant DIY re-fit I've ever completed.
