Swimming with Whale Sharks
On 2 December, Jill and Brett joined Janet and John for a snorkeling adventure off Mogote which is the beach separating La Paz from La Paz Bay. Adolescent whale sharks (10-30 year old) congregate here to feed through the winter. Mexico carefully regulates the snorkeling to limit danger and intimidation to the sharks. We swam with 15-25' long sharks. There is a gallery of photos (to the right). The following video were shot by John and our tour guide.
Janet and John's first dive with a whale shark.
It was a bit intimidating but the sharks basically didn't care we were there. Click the link -->

Just as we were getting close to a mid-sized whale shark, another joined up and the pair enjoyed playing Border Collie with us as they gently pushed us out of their way; they were hungry. -->
Of course, then there was the demonstration of what the whale shark thought of John. Yup... I was backing away as this was shot!
