Good Progress to Marquesas
Yesterday and this past night were very nice sailing with moderate 8-14kt winds giving us 4-6kt speeds. We are sailing with 2 reefs in the main and the staysail 100% deployed. Genoa furler repairs were successful. Disassembly of the line guard and the lower flange (the rotating spool flang that the furling line is tied to) took a bit of time due to salt intrusion into the bolt/threads. Repair of the two-piece bottom flang took a few hours of fabricating reinforcements out of 1.25" wide stainless fender washers, rivets, and fiberglass material with West Epoxy as the substrate. Pictures will be posted when we can. Repairs and reinstallation complete. Sail is ready for use at first light so I can inspect integrity of the flange after deployment and rerfurling.
475NM to go. With an average speed of 5 kts (one can only hope...) we will be anchoring sometime this coming Tuesday (4 days). All is well on Tango. We are quickly reaching the end of our fresh vegi's and fruit, as expected. We have several weeks of food left aboard.
