Continuing Passage to Suwarrow
433 NM to go to Suwarrow Atoll. Very early this morning (before sunrise) the wind finally started to moderate. For most of today we have had 17-20 kts from 090M. This made today a pretty pleasant day of easy downwind sailing. We are rolling a good bit in 8-12Ft seas from the SE but it is no longer the washing machine of the first two days.
Just before lunch we gibed Tango to the starboard tack and we are bee-lining to Swarrow on a course of 284M. The weather says the wind direction will continue but the winds will continue to lighten up a bit. This will slow us of course. Combined with last nights run due west to evade 3 small atolls and the lighter winds makes it look like our Suwarrow arrival will be Saturday or Sunday. HA! That means we'll send Ellen's Birthday (Monday, 22 Jul) on a secluded uninhabited tropical beach where Tango will be anchored.
The weather for our run to Tonga is looking like we'll leave Suwarrow on Wednesday next week (24 July).
All is well aboard Tango. It is time for me to connect up our radio to Honolulu (probably) for our evening check in and email exchange. The Satphone data is still messed up... glad I like SSB...
