Left Suwarrow
Tango departed Suwarrow after a mighty fight to get the anchor unstuck from coral. Last night I could hear the chain scrapping on the coral so I suspected we might have a fight. Janet was briefed on the possibility of Tango needing to do coral dancing. We had 320ft of chain out in 100ft of water meaning that 220ft of chain could be on the bottom. It stopped coming up at about 210ft. Dead stuck. Janet expertly followed hand signal and we slowly made some progress. With about 150 ft of chain on the bottom we were completed stuck. 100ft deep anchorages are not really diving friendly so I used patient tricks and let Tango's size and buoyancy break the coral. When it happened EVERYONE in the anchorage head the boom and saw Tango bounce up. Then the anchor came up pretty normally and we were on our way to Tonga on Tango... this might wreck whats left of my orderly mind... Tonga, Tango... same letters different order... ut oh.
We have made great progress. Winds from the E to ESE at 15-18kt and we are zooming right on track at about 6.5 to 7 kt speed over ground (SOG). Its a bit rolly but "THERE's NEWs.... 5-7 days to Tonga on Tango... I had to type that several times... Weather is supposed have higher winds and seas through the weekend... oh well...
On our way to Tonga.
