Two To Tango in the Wind

Janet and John Harrington's blog as they sail Tango from San Francisco, CA (USA) to the South Pacific, Tonga, New Zealand, back to the US, and beyond.

Progressing Toward Opua

Tango enjoyed a great early morning thru lunch sail on the direct course to Opua today. 7.5-8kt SOG in a cooperative sea. At lunchtime someone turned the fan off and the winds died (as predicted). Currently we are motor sailing toward Opua. 367nm to go. We'll slow a bit to enter the Bay of Islands at first light on Friday 8 Nov and we should be tied up at the quarenteen/Customs Dock for breakfast. We plan to spend the weekend exploring Opua before we head to Tango's new home at Marsden Cove in Whangarie, NZ.
