We are launched!
07 October 2011 | Valdivia, Chile
After many days of rain, today dawned with blue skies and a mystical fog hanging over the river. It is a great day to launch a boat. At 8 am the process started; suspended from a sling and an alien spider-like mobile crane, the boat lurched and swayed awkwardly on her short journey from the shed to the river. This creation of human labor over 12 months is uncomfortable on land, and wants to be floating in the sea. Shortly, the boat was suspended inches above the water, and Jackie, the wife of company founder Alex Wopper and the spiritual shaman of this boat yard, softy spoke words of blessing and good luck to the boat, and with an overhead swing of a bottle of champagne which crashed upon the anchor, gave the name Hekla to this boat. Salud!
