Western Carib Loop
10 April 2013 | Rio Dulce

So here's the plan for the late spring: an off the beaten path tour of the western Caribbean. With Zia stuck at home for now and there being just not quite enough time to prepare for crossing to the south Pacific when the idea was conceived in January, this looks like good adventure. After leaving Guatemala next week, I will make my way to Mexico, grab a few dives along the way, pick up Rich in Isla Mujeres and make passage to Key West, Florida, to visit family in mid-May. Then with Nick, after finals at CSU of course, we make what could be a difficult upwind passage to the east of Cuba then pleasantly downwind on to Jamaica (ya mon!), with stops possible in Cayman Islands and Belize for diving, before returning to Guatemala and the Rio Dulce for hurricane season storage. The schedule is packed between school and the hurricane season, we expect to be back in Colorado for the summer solstice.
