I have long dreamed to explore the polar regions by sailboat; I can still find Canadian ice charts on my computer that I saved 10 years ago. More than a year ago I realized that I was very unlikely to get one of my own boats there, then found and booked a guided trip aboard a 75' sailboat that regularly plies the waters of the Antarctic. Zia, not a particular fan of sail adventures but very much excited about the scenery and wildlife of the polars, is along. I'll be posting stories and photos of our adventure kayaking and camping on the White Continent, which begins Dec 31 with a 3-day sail across the notorious Drake Passage, south of Cape Horn.
