Groundhog Day!
16 January 2010 | Pacific Ocean, Southeast of Midway Island

When we left Houston on September 20th, we started moving through time zones as we traveled eastward around the globe. During the past 4 months, we have crossed 18 time zones, and advanced our clocks 18 times.
We crossed 180 00'00" longitude (The International Date Line) at 7:47pm on Saturday Jan 16th, and just like that it was 8:47pm on Friday Jan 15th. We got our 18 hours back, and then some.
Only 6 more time zone changes to Houston!
So, in honour of getting to live Saturday Jan 16th a second time, we are declaring today "Groundhog Day" aboard ship, remembering that classic Bill Murray comedy movie of the same name.
Never needing much of an excuse to have a party, we chose today to have another Pilot Deck BBQ in celebration of our crossing.
Seas remain calm, and as a result of very bad weather to the north of us now hitting the Aleutians, Alaska and Northern BC we have changed our course to skirt just south of the Hawaiian Islands. This should help shield us from some of the big rollers hitting the north shore. Good surfing on the Banzai Pipeline this weekend.
