The hull needed a good jet wash to remove all of the marine life living on the hull. All came off relatively easy. The boat was then moved this morning to its parking place where it will be staying until the 12th April. Time is a bit tight to get all of the required work dne so some will be completed once we get the boat back into the water. The main areas to concentrate on are those that we cannot access when the boat is in the water, so mainly hull, rudder and propeller shaft areas, plus some ant-fouling touch-up. The rudder was a constant source of frustration on the journey from the UK. The bearings had been replaced in the UK by a contractor but were too tight making the boat harder to steer than was necessary. It also put a great deal of strain on the electric autopilot motor which I had to disassemble twice on route (Corsica and Malta) to replace all of the stripped gears and clean the overheated clutch unit that was preventing operation. The bearings therfore have to be reamed out to a slightly larger diameter here in Gouvia Marina. I think the maintenance staff have understood the scope of the work....
