Return to Gouvia Marina via Garitsa Bay

Our final day of the trip has sadly arrived. After a reasonable night's sleep on anchor, slightly rolly, we weighed anchor at about 0700 hrs and headed north towards Corfu Island. Although not much wind, we had the sails up which helped us motorsail, saving fuel. Time for a spot of fishing we thought, not expecting to catch a massive pink flamingo...!!! Captured and lifted on board, it took Tracey about an hour to deflate it to a size that we could get it down below into the forward cabin. Returning home in a long distance sailing boat flying an Ocean Cruising Club burgee with a giant pink flamingo on deck would result in a serious loss of sailing credibility!! A few hours later, Tracey spotted a very brightly coloured football so we rescued that as well before diverting into Garitsa Bay, near Corfu Old Fort, to anchor for a rest and a spot of lunch before the final push to Gouvia later in the afternoon.
