Back in 2003, we circumnavigated Vancouver Island, capturing wonderful memories. Now in 2024 we hope to re-visit this large island, and create some new memories!

BC Smoke in Friday Harbor

George Stonecliffe
British Columbia is having one of their worst fire seasons in the last 60 years. Smoke has drifted down to Friday Harbor, WA, as it has to Seattle, Portland, and Grants Pass. So clear blue summer skies are no longer present. But the harbor scene is still bustling.
I received word that my hip replacement surgery will be scheduled for October 11th. There is a chance that I will be able to fill in a cancelation, and have the surgery earlier. So I am going forward hoping for an earlier date. Sue and I are considering various options for moving 'Julia Max' down the coast in the meantime.
I'm attaching an earlier photo of the San Juan Islands of Washington (pre-smoke!)
