Enjoying the Aquarium in Monterey

17 October 2017 | In Monterey, CA

While waiting out Santa Barbara Channel weather, we had pulled into the Monterey Harbor Marina. Although the weather here is benign, we are avoiding Small Craft Advisories further south. Today we went to the Monterey Aquarium. We have been to the Monterey Aquarium a few times in the past. My favorite exhibit is the Kelp Forest which is a two story tank including bull kelp, a few sharks, a giant sea bass, a huge sheephead wrasse, senorita wrasse, and many, many more including a scuba diver feeding them and talking about how they care for them. Other exhibits included sea otters, eels, jellies, Baja fish, gray whales, some shore birds, some ocean birds, and scientific information about plankton. In the Open Ocean tank they had some dorado/mahi mahi which got all the fishermen in a tizzy. There were green turtles and a sun fish also. What a great experience!
