At the start of the second leg, we left Turtle Bay with NW10-12 winds which allowed us to use our spinnaker. Unlike most other boats, we were not using our mainsail. But finally we decided to set the mainsail and picked up 2 knots of boat speed, going 6.5 knots. As the day progressed the wind picked up to NW15-20. At 5:30pm we brought the spinnaker down when we were in NW 21 winds, and with a boat speed over 8 knots. We were concerned about blowing out the sail. So we set a double reefed jib, and set our wind vane 'Mabel' to do the driving. We settled back to 6 knots just in time for dinner. Kudos to Sue and Peter for jobs well done. Winds and seas will calm down during the night, making conditions easier for all.
