The Calm After the Storm
01 March 2018 | Islas Perlas, Panama
It was so nice to have an easy day after working hard the day before. Coming around Punta Mala, and having a hard day and night of sailing, we arrived at the Isla San Jose in Las Perlas Islands at 4:00am, just 35 miles from Panama City and the Canal. After 4-5 hours of sleep, we squared away the boat after the heavy weather and effort. Then we motored 25 miles through the Las Perlas Islands in flat calm, and with a current with us. The islands reminded us of the San Juan Islands with the many anchorages, and scenic surroundings to be taken at our leisure. Did I mention how well Sue did sailiing Julia Max on her 3-hour watch last night?! She made some adjustmenst to the sail positions, and increased the boat speed by 1.5 knots, as well as worked with the boat direction getting us much closer to our destination. I need to sleep more often, and let her do the sailing!
Oh, while sailing, we were visited by a rock dove (pigeon, not a passenger pigeon). He took a hand out of bread before leaving. ...Messy eater!
