At Last, Panama City Check-in

It's March 2nd, and we have arrived in Panama City to prepare for our Panama Canal Transit. When we arrived at La Playita Marina, our agent, Tina McBride had arranged for our boat slip. Upon calling the Marina, they immediately told us which slip to occupy. When we were checking in with the Marina Office, Tina's assistant arrived and coordinated getting our papers checked in with Immigration, Customs, and the Port Captain. It's always scary to give someone your passports to process your check-in. But he had them back to us in a few hours. Monday we will get our Cruising Permit allowing us to be in Panama with our boat. Next we get our boat measured for the Canal Transit, and then they will assign a transit date. We will have two crew members from Portland/Seattle, and two local crew members on board to handle the lines. We ordered 8 tires for fenders, 4 on each side of the boat; 4 lines 100' long each. It is easy to be overwhelmed with the operation, and we find we need to take a step back, breath deep, and focus hard on the tasks at hand coming up. More later on all of this! For now, we are enjoying being here. Tonight we bought a SIMM card for our iPhone for the next 30 days so that we can call, message, use What's App Messenger, and have Internet for the next 30 days: $15 for the whole package, including 4 gigabytes of data!
