Final Preparations

24 March 2018 | La Playita Marina, Panama
George Stonecliffe
Ted arrived in Panama City (PTY) from Portland. It was great to see him! Over dinner out we had a lot of catching up to do. But on the eve of our Canal Transit, last minute preparations are being done. Sue has focused on meal prepartions and provisioning. Potable water is being taken on. Trash taken off. Deck preparations: tieing down our outboard (clear of our line handlers stations), dinghy and kayaks tied down, gasoline tanks stowed, shade awning stowed, purchase of more coolers for drinks etc. Today we receive our 4 125' one inch 3 braid lines required for the transit, eight tire fenders, and last but not least, our exit zarpe required for leaving the country of Panama on March 30. With Peter and Bill's assistance, Sue, Ted and I will go to Miraflores Locks to observe the process, and to the museum in Vieja Panama to view the Canal history. It's supposed to rain around noon for awhile, but be clear on the next couple days for our Transit. We will try to take a few photos of the Transit; Sue is the photographer. See you on the other side!
