In the Port of Charleston to avoid Tropical Depression #3, we anchored the first night, and then went to the Charleston Harbor Marina to be at a dock. In the shadow of the USS Yorktown, we were hammered by lightning and thunder in an afternoon squall which seems to be more the norm than the exception. Having lightning crack right over you is frightening, sobering, and humbling. As a sailboat with metal masts sticking up high, it's nice to be around metal objects that are higher...even if that doesn't always help.
