New York Athletic Club

George Stonecliffe
Sue arranged a stay at the New York Athletic Club for three nights, as a reciprocal of the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland. Taking in the Fitness Center of the Club each day, we enjoyed the physical activity, stretching, spinning, weight lifting, and so forth. A lobster dinner special was a highlight for us. Of course, watching TV is seldom possible on our boat. So it is always appreciated. Located on the south edge of Central Park, we rented bikes to ride through the Park for a couple hours. While staying downtown, one evening's entertainment was the Broadway Show 'Frozen' which was a family venue. The next day we went to see the New York Yankees play the Baltimore Orioles. There was a rain delay in the third inning, before the rest of the game was played. The Orioles scored 7 runs early, and the Yankees never caught up, losing 7-5. We became more and more comfortable with traveling by Metro, and never used a taxi. What a system the New York people have!
