Anchored by the Cape Cod Canal

14 August 2018 | Scraggy Neck Bay, Massachusetts
George Stonecliffe
As we head towards Boston, we anchored short of the Cape Cod Canal. It is effected by a tidal current that can be as much as 5 knots. So we wanted to be going easterly with the flood tide tomorrow morning. The Canal is 7 miles long, 450' wide, and 30 feet deep, with 3 bridges, one of which is a Railroad Bridge that needs to be open to pass. The Canal allows access into Cape Cod Bay and Boston Harbor to the north. It will be a full day to navigate to our next destination: Wassengusset Yacht Club in Weymouth, Massachusetts just south of Boston. Luckily, the weather is clearing tomorrow and sunny for the next few days!
