Back in the Pacific Northwest 2020

While waiting out the Corona Virus 19, we are back home in Portland, Oregon. We have just finished (March 2020) repainting and servicing boat systems after our two-year, 15,000 mile tour of North America.

Hurricane Florence Update on Thursday

13 September 2018 | Baltimore, Maryland
George Stonecliffe
Although Florence currently is lessening in strength (115 mph) and changing direction as it approaches landfall on Friday morning, we are still on pins and needles. For us it will probably be a rain and surge event in Baltimore. We have double and tripled our lines and fenders at the dock. Talking with locals, if the surge rises 4-5 feet, the marina will shut off power and water to the docks which will be submerged. We have returned our Enterprise rental car, re-provisioned, topped off our potable water tanks, and supplied ourselves with days worth of reading material (newspapers, books, etc.) One of our big concerns going forward is what the condition of the Intercostal Waterway will be after the surge and floods have passed. We think the silting will be dramatic. So we will probably need to go around Cape Hatteras southward to Cape Canaveral bypassing the ICW all together. But before those decisions, we will be exploring Chesapeake Bay during the rest of September, attending the Annapolis Boat Show Oct 5-7, and taking in the Cape May Bird Festival Oct 19-21. We visited the Baltimore Aquarium a few days ago. Nemo made us smile!

The last six months (Sept 2019 to March 2020) have been in the Schooner Creek Boatworks facility, repairing fiberglass, repainting, servicing electronics, AC electrical, and updating boat features. It's good to be free now, just waiting for the Corona Virus 19 pandemic to subside. [...]
