Salty Dawg Sailing Association Fall Rally

11 October 2018 | Rock Hall, Maryland
George Stonecliffe
While listening to speakers and fellow attendees at the Annapolis Boat Show, we started to see that the Intercoastal Waterway may be fouled by Hurricane Florence. Then if we get down to Florida, trying to make our way SE to the Eastern Caribbean might be with the wind 'on our nose', that is slow and difficult going. Some call it 'the thorny passage'. So we picked up on the idea of joining the Fall Rally of the Salty Dawg Sailing Association. It leaves November 3rd from Hampton, VA with 75+ sailboats, arriving in the British Virgin Islands around November 14th, 1500 miles later. We will cross the Gulf Stream heading approximately south of Bermuda, before turning south on Longitude 65, known as I-65, which takes us to the BVI. So we are focused on making sure 'Julia Max' is in good shape: sails, rigging, engine, refrigeration, fuel, water, and watermaker. Currently we are looking for crew. Interested?
