Visiting Blaine and Pt Roberts
12 August 2021 | Friday Harbor, WA
George Stonecliffe | Sunny and 88F with smoke haze from Washington State fires.
This summer has been spent using our condo in Friday Harbor, WA as our base of operations. Trips have been made to Seattle, Poulsbo, Port Townsend, Anacortes, and numerous anchorages in the San Juan Islands. We arranged to have a car in Friday Harbor, and ferried over to Orcas for a day of hiking on Turtle Back Mountain (6.3 miles, 1200' gain). Our bicycles have been used for exercise and birding on the east side of San Juan Island. Friends Ken and Ruth on sv Misty Blue have been part of many excursions with us. The HAM Net called the Great Northern Boaters' Net continues to start our days on a good note! Our sv Julia Max has needed loving attention to its Yanmar diesel engine fuel injectors and turbo. The forward head toilet required replacement after ice damage from last winter started leaking. Ah, boat projects continue. With all the activity we have had, periodically we do sail and have the boat trimmed at 6.5 knots going hither and yon.
This afternoon we head north towards Blaine, WA and Pt Roberts for a visit. Cheers to all!
