Darlene is the Net Control for the HAM Radio Net called the Great Northern Boaters Net (Northern Portion). Her wonderful personality is a highlight for us as we check into the Net every morning at 6:30 Alaska Daylight Time. After leaving Ketchikan, we motored over to Dora Bay where
Darlene and Floyd live off the grid. Their home is on an islet with a view of the surrounding waters and the forest trees, As we spent the afternoon with them, we had a peak into their private lives, their joys, their concerns, and their challenges off the grid. The spaghetti dinner had a
fabulous homemade sauce that we savored all through the cooking process. We are looking forward to the next time that we can visit them!
