Anchored at Sidney Spit, BC

George Stonecliffe | Windy and Overcast
The wind was up for leaving Victoria, and heading north to Sidney Spit. Once out of the harbor, we sailed at first with a double-reefed jib. As we navigated around Race Rocks at McKenzie Island, we balanced our boat with a reefed Mizzen sail, making 7 knots in 20-25 knots WSW. We maneuvered around 'Big Boy' ships heading out to sea, and other pleasure craft that were running for a safe Port. We started running into commercial crab pots before finally anchoring at Sidney Spit. Winds continued to blow 15-20 knots, and would continue through Monday. We re-anchored once to put out more anchor chain for a windy night.
