Every cruising boat should have a working anchor windlass to deploy and retrieve the boat anchor. Ours finally failed at Prevost Island. Arriving in Nanaimo, we were able to find a replacement windlass and an electrical/mechanical guy to install it. Every install is different: hole placements through the deck, anchor chain angle to the windlass gypsy, managing anchor locker issues, etc. We also have bought new anchor chain (G43HT), 220' of it, and painted every 50' to help deploy the right amount of chain. Tomorrow we hope to be finished with the install, and on our way on Mother's Day, May 12th.
