L'Enfant de la Mer
27 July 2010 | Ft Myers
I was fortunate enough to go on a 3 day boat delivery with new friends Capt Ron and Admiral Connie aboard "L'Enfant de la Mer" (Child of the Sea). A 60 ft Jefferson Marquesa. What a beautiful boat! This is not roughing it by any means. Had a great time taking her from Ft Myers to Dunedin (just north of Clearwater). Had a blast and was lucky enough to spend about 18 hours at the helm (on the bridge, 3 stories above the waterline!). Far and away the largest boat I've ever driven. Boca Grande Pass was rough and I was happy to let the Captain manuever thru that, but otherwise it was "wicked fun". Here's a few pics from the journey. Connie has more that she will be sending and I'll post em when I get em.
Starboard

Here's the starboard side of the big girl. You can get a better appreciation of how big she is from this shot.
Boat Dog
27 July 2010 | On Board
This is "Anchor", what a sweetheart he is! He was as comfortable on board as most dogs are on land. We became friends in our short time together and I hope he stays in touch. :)
Useppa
27 July 2010 | At Anchor Useppa Island
These are the "modest" homes on Useppa Island (private) where we spent our 1st night at anchor.
Lighthouse

Eggmont lighthouse. Also a nice beach on the west side of the island. First time I'd stayed on the west side. Less protected, but winds were out of the East.
Traffic in the Ship Channel
27 July 2010 | At Anchor Eggmont Key
There were a total of 4 large ships transiting the Tampa Ship Channel while we were at anchor the 2nd night. They passed less than a mile from us. Got a couple pics. This is a floating oil refinery.
