We are currently in Sequim Bay waiting to go across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Canada. But how did we get here you may ask?
Well that is a long story; and if you are going to follow the blog you may as well know a little about us and how we got here. And I'll try to make it short :>)
We started taking a beginning sailing course through the Mountaineers, of all things, thinking it would be a great family thing to do. It morphed into more lessons for Ron through a series of classes in Anacortes, WA and then into a club membership with the Seattle Sailing Club
- great group - where both Ron and Kirsten took more lessons. Along the way we ended up getting a boat to put into a lease program at the Club as well. So there we were, owning a boat - a 34' Hanse - and taking a few lessons and doing some racing to boot. We would cruise our Hanse, "Silver Girl", during the summer and always wanted to keep going when the vacation time ran out. We kept wondering what is further up there?
Fast forward 5 years and we sold our original boat and bought a different one; had our youngest move out of the house; and sold the house as well! We moved onto our new-to-us boat in August of 2016. Now there's a feat - stuffing a 3,000 sq ft house onto a 40 ft boat!
After whittling down the house items, we now have just one storage spot and have done a lot of leaning out on the boat as well. We have been getting the boat ready to travel since then and are now off on our journey.
Follow along with us and see where we go - and what situations we get into!
