24 May 2017 | Pender Harbor
Pender Harbor is just up from Smuggler Cove and is a very popular spot in the summer with the folks from Vancouver. We dropped our anchor in Garden Bay and actually went into the local pub to have some fat, juicy hamburgers. We almost asked if they could put on the NBA playoffs and then remembered that we were in Canada. Obviously we ended up watching the Stanley Cup playoffs.
We went over to the public dock at Madeira Park to check out the stores and to go shopping at the local IGA grocery store. This was one of the most unusual ways to shop ever. The IGA leaves several shopping carts down at the dock for boaters who pull in and then grab a cart and walk a block to the store. When done, you load the groceries into the cart and back down to the dock! Great customer service. I even grabbed a picture of Kirsten with the cart on our way up.
We were using Pender Harbor as a staging point for the long trek up to Princess Louisa Inlet, as that is @ a 50 kn mile trek. We weighed anchor early the second morning we were there and started out.
