Westsail Rudder change

15 December 2007 | Whangarei
While we had Kabuki out of the water in October Paul did a renovation of the rudder. Kabuki had Teak Cheek plates on her rudder, under this was 4mm stainless steel which had gone rusty.
Paul removed the old stainless and teak, and replaced it with 6mm stainless steel sheets. We did not like the idea of this being in one piece so we had two pieces made up.
You will see from the photo's how Paul did it. It feels really strong, and looks 100% better than the rust streaked rudder we had before. We decided not to replace the teak as we felt it was only cosmetic anyway.
Anyway we are getting ready for christmas and our holiday, can't wait only a week to go........
