Easter Break
24 March 2008 | Whangarei Harbour
Perfect Weekend
Friday morning at about 10am we dropped the mooring lines and motored off down the river for the weekend. Not a breath of wind, we had to motor all the way. We had the outgoing tide so decided to go all the way out to Taurikura Bay at the head of the Whangarei Harbour. The weather was calm and warm. We anchored up near Paul's brothers place and Paul went over the side to replace the anode on the prop.
What a great spot, Steve and Bev (Pauls Brother and his wife) went of diving for scallops and mussels, they called in at the boat later for a drink and invited us up for dinner. Many glasses of red wine later we managed somehow to make it back to the boat.
Saturday morning was a weeeee bit slow and painful, but we had a nice quiet day and slept the wine off.
Sunday we decided to head home, we waited until after lunch and managed to catch the incoming tide and a nice sea breeze. Had a beautiful sail up the harbour, Xavier (our son) managed to snap some photo's of us sailing past the Onerahi Yacht Club
(we need a good camera). What a great weekend, we need more of these.
Today we bought a copy of the Yachting New Zealand Regulations for Category 1 boats sailing offshore, we have a long list of things that we have to do to the boat before we can leave New Zealand. We need to get started now for leaving in April 2009. Oh what fun
While we were down at Burnsco purchasing above mentioned rules, we met up with Gwyn, a fellow Westsailor. We got chatting about westsails etc, going off shore, I can't wait.
cheers for now
