So called experts

06 November 2008 | Ray Roberts Marine
Over the last 6 months or so Paul and I have been working on the boat, as you will know if you follow my blog.

Anyway, we have talked to many "experts", purchased things off "experienced" people and listened to "good sound" advice. Over this period we have come to the conclusion that the "experts" may not be quite so "expert" as they seem. The "experienced" are only experienced in their eyes, and the "good sound advice" needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Paul was the first one to realise this, as he dealt with the "experts" more than I did. But through his experiences, it has come to my notice that one should rely on gut feeling, common sense and an all round practical attitude.

I am not saying that we have had only bad experiences, we have received some amazing help. But we seem to be falling back on to Paul's commonsense approach more and more. It actually gives you a sense of achievement when you can do it without the "experts"

So all praise to commonsense and the working man.
