Testing, testing
26 November 2008
We had a go at using our SSB Radio the other day. At first we just tried receiving radio signal, Which it did very well. We could hear some of the Yachts coming down from the islands, Vanuatu, Vavau etc. So all was going well.
Then we tried to make radio contact with Russell Radio to test our set. When I pushed the transmit button, the set turned off. The aerial seemed to still draw power though, very strange.
The Electrician came and had a look, and a rather hefty fuse had blown. So now the SSB is at the shop getting checked out, again. We had it checked when we bought it, but something may have happened in the meantime.
Soooooo, another thing has gone a bit wonky, it seems to be what happens. The Pelican clips (American) on our lifeline gates do not fit New Zealand connections for the new lines, probably something to do with imperial and metric. And all the while big business is racking in the money, but don't get me started about that.
I am practicing for a performance of the "Three Billy Goats Gruff" at the Childrens Expo this weekend. We had a practice this afternoon, using our mask's for the first time. That really threw a spanner in the works, but I am sure we will get there. It should go down well with the Children, and the Parents as well. I am doing this for my work, I am a Librarian with the Whangarei Library. It should be lots of fun, I am an extrovert and love making a fool of myself in front of others.
