Labor Day Weekend
08 September 2009 | RB
Well, the hard dodger is in some sort of mystery-land. We paid to get it started back in July - no dodger, and no date to expect said dodger. Luckily we have not yet cargo-shifted the old dodger and frame - if need be, we will have to put new eisenglass in it and re-install. Extremely disappointing and stressful; at least we have a backup.
Two super meals tried this week (unlike weeks past, when "meal trial" day has ended up being a "peanut butter night"). One is a simmered tomato dish w/ cumin, coriander and something else that you can drop eggs into to poach at the end, or add olives and just serve w/ bread as a sort of bruschetta, or put over pasta. It is supposedly a Israeli/Tunisian dish - any way, it's YUM! The second was a cold orzo salad w/ lemon, chick peas, black olives, feta & fresh basil. More yum. Both very easy and boat-adaptable.
Boat work - we got one of those SUV cargo organizers, like a big canvas box w/ 3 smaller canvas boxes that go inside. This weekend we unloaded the entire starboard 'behind the settee cushions' storage areas. Some stuff got tossed, but most got put into two of the inserts. It was a missed opportunity for a super photo - Marty at the saloon table surrounded by boat stuff.
