Teeth & Meds

So, I'm sitting at work yesterday, gnashing my teeth in frustration over a tricky computer issue when suddenly I have some sort of grit in my mouth.
Tightly focused on the computer, I simultaneously spit whatever-it-is into my hand and fling it towards the trash can sitting next to me.
Next - tongue touches teeth - OH SHIT. There's a PIECE OF TOOTH gone!
All that grit in my mouth was - crumbled tooth!
The tooth didn't hurt, but it was very rough. I called the dentist (who had given me an 'alls well' JUST LAST FRIDAY) and said "help!"
This morning I trot on over at 8:30, and by 10 I'm outta there with a tidy composite rebuild. (YAY, NO CROWN!)
So - I mention to the Doc, who knows about the upcoming trip - um, what about dental emergencies at sea? He provides a prescription for pain meds & antibiotics - with STRICT instructions not to take the antiobiotics without calling first, and his cell number. I will fill the presciptions and then do them up separately in seal-a-meal packets, each with a copy of the original prescription and his number inside, to keep aboard w/ other First Aid supplies.
Meanwhile, I made a "travel consultation" appointment w/ my primary care Doc for Monday afternoon to discuss what other antibiotics, pain meds, etc. she thinks we should have in the First Aid kit - I'll do the same with those.
This didn't make THE LIST, but since it's happening, I thought it was worth mentioning!
I guess the broken tooth was a GOOD thing!?!
