Greeetings Nancy and I started the day with a walk in Ikitake town. We were checking out the new city hall .building complete with PV solar power when a truck drove in. A young fellow stepped out and introduced himself as Francois , the mayor of Ikitake. He invited us up for a tour of the offices. We met his staff, the includiing the island nurse which was also the mayor. He sent us on our way with two shell lei. Once back at the boat we decided to cross the lagoon and see if we could find an overnight spot. Of couse the anchor was stuck on a coral head so in I went, Nancy driving the boat and mark on the anchor. We were ableto unwind the chain without diving sixty feet. The lagoon turned out to be pretty clear with a few pop up visible reefs. We made it to the other side and found a sandy spot for the anchor and stayed the night. We al went ashore , Nancy shelling and Mark and checking out the windward side of the Motu . There was a flat shelf that we went back to after dinner lo look for lobsters, againno luck there. In the after noon I went trolling in the Avon annd decided to go on another Motu and look for coconut crabs, no luck there ether. There were a lot ofTupa crabs around so I pulled off some big claws and we had them for pupus last night. We have been told that if you only take one claw the crab liives, can eat with the other claw while he grows back the claw we took. Hopping thats all true, per Dave Brown. Not sure f our plans yet, will decide wether to head for Fatu Hiva later this morninng after I see the latest grib. Itseens like the wind is a bit light sowe may leave Thursday. Will let you know. Cheers David
