My treasure trove of items from TEMU came in, an orange squeezer, cutting board, induction charger for the Galaxy phone, and an electric shaver with a beard trimmer ($8.47). I was going to head to the Legion for Taco Tuesday, but it was hot and I didn’t feel like battling the heat. My TEMU shipment was a day late and they gave me 5 dollars credit, so I ordered a few more items.
.
I had chicken thighs sauteed in olive oil and mixed with the remaining mole. I had more chicken thighs, I think there were 9 or 10 in the package. The next night I sauteed two thighs with Irish butter and a shot of cooking sherry. Very tasty. I was running out of groceries and now had to go shopping or else.
.
I used my last egg for breakfast. Cuddily called and we discussed going to the Legion for dinner and I could do my triangle shopping/Legion trip. My shopping list was larger than usual. Fortunately the afternoon temperature was mid 80’s but humid. I was glad to get inside the air conditioned store. My shopping bag was quite full and I was barely able to ride the bike to the Legion.
.
I thought I would be late but arrived right on time. I had shrimp basket with onion rings and sufficient merlot.
.
In the morning a small thunderstorm came through and I was alerted by weather radar, took in a few items I had left outside, then the rain and thunder hit.
.
My task was to make chicken rice soup with the remaining chicken thighs and a pile of ingredients: leeks, carrots, celery, shallots, garlic, and leftover rice and red beans. I used my new cutting board and started the soup in the pressure cooker pot with some Irish butter and olive oil. A half cup of water was added to help steam the veggies. The mix was dusted with Italian spice mix. I brought it to a boil, then turned off the flame and let it sit for about 10 minutes and repeated this. A quart of water was added, a big spoonful of chicken base, bay leaves, and of course the chicken thighs, and brought to a boil again and flame off, repeat until chicken is done.
.
After having a nice portion of the soup I stowed 3 quart bags in the fridge, each with about 3 cups of soup. Although I have ruined chicken soup in the past, this time it was okay.
.
My bike riding made me sore and I awoke in the middle of the night and couldn’t get back to sleep. It was a perfect time to play Woodoku, a wooden block game on the phone. About 3 days earlier I had relentlessly played that game until reaching level 84, which was the end, where I had never gone before. The game has a new tournament about every 6 days or so, so I couldn’t play until now, in the middle of the night. At daybreak I felt like taking a morning nap but couldn’t.
.
Cornelia Marie called and had a project and needed to cut some lumber, could I help? Of course. I biked over with my Makita circular saw. I felt quite tired. It turned out she could do the job with her sawzall and she did most of the work while I sat on the porch. I did help a little bit.
.
I had errands to run, laundry first so I would have something to wear after showering my sweat soaked body, get wine and a lotto ticket at the wine shop, and bike to the grocer’s for ham, a bottle of Bleu water, and then maybe go to the Legion. Cornelia Marie invited me for flounder dinner at her mom’s house on the water, not far from the Legion. I didn’t think I could run all my errands and make it in time for dinner, but Cuddily texted that dinner wouldn’t be before six.
.
I set out and felt stronger on the bike than the last time. In spite of making me achy, the exercise still provides a beneficial workout. The temperature was mild, just over 80. I rolled down to the waterfront home right on time and was greeted with merlot, thereby to hydrate with.
.
The dinner was perfection except that the “flounder” was probably a foreign farmed fish and didn’t hold up to the normal baking process. Not the chef’s fault at all, but a travesty in the town that claims to be the “seafood capital of the world”.
.
I biked back to the marina late and had no trouble falling asleep. Of course I woke up very early in the morning, achy and unable to get back to sleep. It was Sunday, the Tour de France was finishing in Paris, the Hungarian Gran Prix was taking place, the British Open was on its final round, and SailGP was about to start day 2 in Los Angeles. I got up and had chicken soup for breakfast just before noon.

The image is of the completion of level 84 in Woodoku, something that is rarely seen.
