Hakehau bay, Ua Pou All the islands here have a different flavor, Ua Pou has spectacular pillars left over from the volcano eruption. Each pillar is the core of a classic volcano like Chimney rock. There is a school in front of the harbor and there are lots of kids swimming and kayaking outriggers in teams or solo during recess, after school and for P.E. The locals are very friendly, a lot of young people and families live here. We happened to be anchored in Hakehau when the big supply ship Aranui, came in. The harbor is very small and we were not anchored in the best place for this enormous ship to maneuver to the dock so we had to back down on our stern anchor until we were out of his way.
