Sailing to the Tuamotus

Unfortunately we have not had any good wifi connection so I have not been able to upload many pictures. We have enjoyed the Marquesas now for a month, the lush jungles, steep terrain with minaret like pillars disappearing into the clouds, very dramatic like something out of the movie "Jurassic Park". It rains a lot but not for long, the temperature is pleasant, no mosquitoes to talk of, the people are friendly and helpful and the provisioning is good. It is amazing to think that 100 years ago the Marquesans were cannibals and living in stone age society. If you are interested Herman Melville wrote two books about this area "Typee", and "In the South Seas". On the down side the snorkeling has not been very good, the water is murky and shark infested. Now we are looking forward to crystal clear water and coral reefs to snorkel in the Tuoamotus.
After a few mishaps we are finally ready to move on. We got a new starter motor shipped from the states, Guy changed the lead on the genoa furling line that broke, and he retrieved the stern anchor (that we lost due to a bad splice) after 3 dives.
We are headed as far East as we can go depending on the wind and hope to reach Hao or Anamo, if we cannot make it that far east we will settle for Raroia and Makemo. It will take about 5 days to get either place.
