East London

Good morning everybody,

We left Madagascar

The stores are full with rum and fruit, weather is downloaded, boathull is clean and fast again, our three sails are breathing the wind... We're on our way again... 1400 miles to go, next stop Richards Bay :) in the new album you'll find our Route.

South Africa here we come!!!

Buuu, just arrived and already getting ready to leave this beautiful Island. I really enjoyed my stay in Madagascar, but time is running and we want to leave Madagascar on Friday. That will be the begin of the hardest part in my sailing career! Cape of Good Hope is still one of the most challenging sailing [...]

Arrived on Madagascar!!!

Hurray we made it! Arrived on Sainte Marie last night and woke up in the middle of the night when a shattering noise and movement went through the boat. We rushed up thinking our anchor had slipped and we had crashed into another boat, but the opposite was the case. A newly arriving, definitely blind [...]

Rodrígues to Mauritius

Left the quiet little Rodrigues three days ago in a group of three. Lost track of FRIDA and STORM PETREL on day two, they took off whilst fat ole ' Kama had troubles moving her bum in the light winds. At least caught a Mahimahi last night. Now arriving at Mauritius, 12 h later than we thought. Wonder what the place looks like when I wake up in the morning :-)

Good morning everybody,
We spent one night in Durban and then raced down to East London in a 40 hour weather window between two nasty looking lows. Thanks to the Algulhas Current we reached speeds of up to 10.5 knots and made it to the safety of the port in just 38 h - a new record!!!
Now we are departing towards Cape Town. 450 miles to go, perhaps with a stop over in Port Elizabeth, or directly.
See you soon!

But KAMA is in great shape and weather looks good, we are also well prepared for surprises and possible stops along the coast of Mozambique.

Hurray we made it! Arrived on Sainte Marie last night and woke up in the middle of the night when a shattering noise and movement went through the boat. We rushed up thinking our anchor had slipped and we had crashed into another boat, but the opposite was the case. A newly arriving, definitely blind french boat had rammed us. Luckily nothing happened, just a few paint marks and we went back to bed only in disbelief about the bad seamanship of the other boat which didn't even ask if everything was alright.
Now we are on shore getting the formalities done :)
Madagascar looks great so far!!! People are very friendly.

Today we are leaving Port Louis and heading to Sta. María, Madagascar.
Wind forecast shows light winds for the rest of the week and we are preparing to use the lightwind Genoa. This trip is about 500 nm, so we should be arriving at the end of the week. Can't wait to see what Madagascar is like!
