Autumn Update
It is Indian Summer, and we are in the process of closing up our home in the beautiful mountainous and plan for our annual migratory trek to be on S/V Karma. It's been an adventurous Summer vagabonding around, tending to the Orchard, visiting family and friends out East and enjoying the east coast. You can catch a ray of our journey as we prepare to travel down the Cali Seaboard to be back in Guatemala! let the journey begin! ~~

Strange tropical fruit make me happy!
There is no end to exotic fruit in tropical Guatemala. From one day to the next the selection changes. The nice thing about Guatemala is that Each time I go to town I'm surprised by something new! The other nice thing is that it's so cheap! Although they have fruit you'll recognize such as mango, pineapple, [...]
Boat systems...
First priority is the life support systems, then I'll work through the rest of the ship as I go.
I already know that the house batteries need to be replaced, and I spend the morning checking various life support systems onboard, doing a reasonably good "Scottie" accent as I check through the ship. Fresh water, bedding, ventilation, cooking, refrigeration, and a good interior cleaning are in order.
Because Karma has been sitting for a while, stoppered up in the humid climate, she has a distinct aroma. I get busy with teak oil, kitchen cleaner, and bleach solutions. Masking the musty odor with other stuff seems to work, I guess. At some point I will have to tackle the main cabin mattress, which has acquired a distinct boat smell.
I fantasize about having a crew who would do all this cleaning stuff for me, while I tend to important "Captain" stuff.
I also acquired a dinghy! One of the guys who works at Catamaran offered me a used one for a great price. It looks like it will hold air, and I agree to buy it. Yay, now I need to buy an outboard motor.
