Glad We Were On Board

Linda / 30 knot wind and rain
The weather here the past two days has been quite windy and rainy. Rockin' and rollin' out here on our mooring. Yesterday afternoon we were below deck doing projects and suddenly there was a huge thud against our hull.
A 50'+ sailboat, much larger than Lark had broken it's mooring and hit us as it drifted back into the mooring field. No one on board. I called on the radio for assistance and shortly we had two men here to help. We were able to get a couple fenders between Lark and Seaplusplus, and once Ed (a fellow yachtie we met in Tonga in 2012) and Brad climbed on deck and attached some lines, they towed it to an empty mooring behind us.
The harbormaster was able to contact the owners, and we saw them arrive about an hour and a half later. We connected with them this morning and discussed the damage and how that's going to be paid for. Our stainless bow pulpit is bent quite badly from the impact, and when their anchor caught our top life line, it ripped one of the stanchions out of Lark's teak toe rail and bent the attachment points on a couple of others.
The owners were grateful that we captured Seaplusplus before it damaged a lot more boats that were in it's path. Fortunately they're insured, so that will pay for our repairs.
Forecast for the next few days is continued rain, but less wind. It's currently pouring buckets. and our haul out at the boatyard is at 3:00 this afternoon.
