Refurbish means mess big time on Kaya

23 February 2011 | Durban
Hugh
The thing about refurbishing anything, including Kaya, is that there is always a mess left behind. Maybe people think that leaving the mess means you can see how hard they are working!!!!

Anyway, I am glad CC does not see it, she would be very angry... I suppose that means I tidy up tomorrow when I arrive: yea after a few vodka's I may do..

New exhaust from dry to wet!

Now that the diesel engine has been serviced, I changed the exhaust from dry to wet to help lower the noise and make Kaya more liveable.

New safety lines after

Now the new ones are being put in place, all steel with two step ladders at each side.

These are the new safety lines, all around Kaya's deck. Next she will need the safety netting.

Kaya's new tender: rib or rubber duck depending on where you live.

The work continues!

Hi All, well the work goes on. I have had all the old safety rails removed and new ones installed. Fridge and Freezer now only need wiring and hey presto:cold beer!!

CC did not join this time, she wants hot water and a new toilet/shower before she rejoins (I think in secret she wishes she could come).

Next on the work is having Kaya lifted out, have her bottom and steering seen to, as well as me playing with new tender: 5mtr rib (duck in SA) that I will take with me to asia.

Back on Kaya this weekend for several days, mix with the yachties at the club and get some more minor things done to kaya, minor in nature = loads of work.

Have bought her new radar, AIS radar and I will try and get the bits fitted to install next visit.

Chippie I will also hire to make two seats benches behind streering and buy paint to repaint deck.

SSB and plotter plus depth will also be on the agenda, hope I have enough time to do all this work.

Well fair winds all.
