Debbie and Kevin
After multiple attempts over several days, Kevin solved an engine temperature issue and coolant leak - initially running hotter than ideal, and then colder - repeatedly swapping out both coolant pumps we have onboard (rebuilding and cleaning them), cleaning the mixing valve, reconfiguring the exhaust manifold hoses with onboard pieces and in the process finding a piece of an impeller (which we know was not from any impellers changed since we have owned Grace), flushing the coolant and finding some rust debris particles, installing a filter to catch any remaining debris, and finally exchanging cover plates on the installed coolant pump.
Monday, December 19th’s motoring trip of three and a half hours, inside “the Whale” along the Don’t Rock passage, was a needed boost to the battery house bank in a light breeze on Grace’s bow. Shortly after anchoring in Fisher’s Bay, we dinghied to shore and walked up and over the hill for lunch, with the view above, and a beach walk on the ocean side of the island.
