Bound for NYC!
29 September 2017 | NYC skyline
The wind finally died down in the wee hours of the morning, but waves continued rocking our boat on the mooring. I didn't get sick, so hoping that experience is over!
John was very nervous last night- his first instinct was to anchor in a more protected area of the harbor. Another lesson learned.... JC has good instinct that we should listen to!
Woke to minimal wind (5kts) and 1ft waves.... (Thank you!).
Left Port Jefferson in full sail/motor sailed toward NYC- Port Washington (free moorings!), just outside of the East River. It was awesome seeing the Manhattan skyline appear on the horizon!
Looking forward to tomorrow- will load lots of pics in an album attached to this blog.
Corona and snacks in the cockpit before deflating the dinghy and lashing to deck in anticipation of a 48 hour sail down the Jersey coast early AM Sunday to Tuesday.
As I sit here I see a Stop & Shop and feel happy that I don't need to pick up groceries! We eat less on the boat, but are eating well.
The water temp here is 74 - and fish jumping everywhere. We are both surprised that there is not more commercial traffic- we'll see what the East River brings tomorrow!
Hope you all have as pretty a sunset as we do tonight!
