Darwin to Kupang
03 August 2012 | Kupang
Juanita
We were ready, supplies, alcohol, fuel and water stowed away. Keri's was shipshape as well, new prop on, all other equipment working fine, minor repairs done. With a final dinner ashore on the Friday night, we were at the starting line along with well over one hundred boats for a 11.00am start. There was a shotgun start and we were on our way.
The passage was uneventful, wind was mostly from the east and catamarans do not really like the wind from behind. We were on full main sail most of the time with no jib. At one stage the wind picked up and gusted to 33 knots and we decided to reef down one. All was well till we broke the reefing line and the skipper had to go up and secure the sail. He had a minor confrontation with the boom and came off second best.
Arrived Kupang at 1600 hours on Tuesday after a 77 hours crossing.
