Mike - Semi Finals Weekend - NRL

I thought this little break to Bali was for me. I could not come all this way and not go to Bali when we were so close. Then I find out it was Semi Finals Weekend, need I say anymore. We left Keris and Snoopy at Gili Aer in the care of Ruth and Kelvin. We booked our trip on the fast ferry, the wind had picked up and the seas were a little rough. The Ferry Driver only knew 2 speeds, fast and faster, it was quite a frightening journey but we made it safely into Sangur. From there, we were taken to Kuta, checked into our hotel and guess what, sitting in front of a TV just before the start of the Friday Night Semi Final. Saturday we walked around Kota, saw the Bali Bombing Memorial etc. Kota has changed since the bombings for the better, anyway that was what we were told. It is cleaner and you do not get accosted by the local vendors as much. I enjoyed the short time we were there, I wish we had more time as I had heard Ubud is worth visiting. Maybe on our return, if we come back this way.
We befriended a nice guy by the name of Ascef who acted as our tour guide on the Sunday, he took us into Denpasar to show us a few sights. Mike bought a wooden carving of a fisherman, something he has been after for sometime, there is a story behind it, ask him to tell you. Just a dust collector..... Returned to Gili Aer next day. Much better trip back.
